1. Get your teams ready for SPRUMMER 2010: Registration opens soon!

New for 2010 we are going to be combining our Spring and Summer seasons to create one ultra-cool season: Sprummer 2010!  In the past we have held seperate leagues only running 8 weeks in duration.  By popular demand we will now combine the two seasons and have a full 15 to 16 week season starting in late May.  Making the registration process and the lives of our team captains much easier! Registration will open Monday, March 8th.

HSSC 'Waterfront Winterfest' Floor Hockey Tournament: Sign up today! This is a picture of us scoping out the site and an interview with the head of Canada Games 2011. Halifax Sport and Social Club proudly presents a floor hockey tournament unlike any other. As such, we must be courteous and respectful of rules so we can continue to be granted permits. Please help us by ensuring you and your team are courteous to the custodians and follow these highly enforced policies by the schools: 1. Please Remove all outdoor footwear before entering the gym!It is very important that you remove all outdoor footwear before entering the gym. This is for two reasons: One it will prevent slippery floors and reduce the risk of injuries, and it will also keep the custodians at the schools extremely happy! As well, try not to wear your indoor shoes into the building at the chance that they might bring in water and snow. 2. School Door Closed?Please be sure that you read the facility descriptions on the website of how to enter the building. Once there, if a door is closed or locked, please be patient. DO NOT BANG ON THE DOORS! Normally custodians open the door 10-15 minutes before game times, if the door remains locked please call the emergency hotline at 403-3030. 3. Clean up your garbage when you leave!Please remove all water bottles and debris before you leave the gym! This is really important to ensure we are able to continue using facilities.4. No Dark Soled ShoesPlease make sure that your shoes are non-marking, so that the floors at schools stay clean. Scuff test your shoes with your heels at every school BEFORE you start playing.5. No Practicing in the HallsPlease do not practice in the school halls. Ceiling tiles, light fixtures, and windows are delicate and can be damaged by equipment.6. End your game on timeGames must end at the scheduled end time (no exceptions). Our permits only run until 5 minutes after the last scheduled game of the night. To refresh those creative brains here is the current artwork. a) Think about your design...Take some time to come up with the most original idea you can think of. The Puckey Brewsters, undefeated in nearly 3 full seasons of league play in the HSSC Thursday Floor Hockey League, finally lost a game! It was a close one, with a final score of 10-8 the Kevin Baconators managed to squeeze out the win and held on late in the game. I don't know if it was due to the talent of Rob Macintosh and his Baconator team or the sheer determination of the group, backed by the mystical powers of Kevin Bacon. Whatever it was, we now know that the Puckey Brewsters aren't invincible and that this season is shaping up to be one of our best yet!Good luck to everyone this season in the competitive floor hockey! They have also been undefeated in regular season play the last three seasons that they won. During their first game in the opening HSSC season in fall of 2008, they lost their first game 24-9... so they've come a long way! Sydney Crosby isn't the only player bringing trophies back to Cole Harbour, 5 players from their team are from Cole Harbour and they take turns holding onto the trophy. The most memorable trip for the trophy was when one of their players took the trophy to their wedding and had it at the head table! The team has been constantly battling the Kevin Baconators each season and has come up victorious each time, the Baconators vow to win next season!Congratulations to Puckey Brewsters!
